Butterflies come to Springfield - May 2013
A Peacock Butterfly was found on the meadow, feeding happily on the Dandelions. A happy sight in my humble opinion, and an indicator that leaving your Dandelions, and not weeding them out, is best practice. Easier too ;0)
In May there was a fish out of water!
In May 2013, Matt Hawes the woodcarver created some more magic! A pike was created out of a tree, that had died. The sculpture has already caused a stir, many folks admiring and talking about the new creation. Long may Pike create communications!!!!

May delivered a new dew pond that was created in the Woodland Garden
A new pond has been created, in order to increase the parks biodiversity, might even attract some frogs or newts and other aquatic wildlife! Much hard work has gone into making this new habitat, however, after only one day an unthoughtful act led to metal poles being driven into the centre of the ponds lining. This act was, in my mind, unkind and senseless, however, with a little TLC and forward thinking, a plan may be hatched to address the water from seeping out. Watch this space!!
